Earl Morall is known as one of the greatest backup QB’s in NFL history, serving under Johnny Unitas and Bob Griese. After an injury to Unitas in 1968, Morall stepped up to start the season that saw the Colts to a 13-1 record, along with an MVP and an NFL Championship. Morall ended up with 3 Super Bowls (V, VII AND VIII). This white durene jersey is believed to have been worn during his standout 1968 MVP season and later reused following the AFL-NFL merger, when the league mandated player names on the back of jerseys. As such, the nameplate "MORRALL"—stitched in blue tackle twill on a white plate—was added at that time, explaining its high placement, which was typical for jerseys of that era. On the front left tail of this white durene jersey, is an Eddie Leonard SPORTING GOODS label, as well as a Sand-Knit label with wash instructions and size (46). Player number (15) is done on the front/back and both sleeves. Player name (MORALL) is done on a white nameplate across the back. All done in blue tackle twill. Morall has signed below the player number on back “Earl Morall 1968 MVP”, in black marker, in our opinion rating an 8. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinions shows excellent wear. Accompanied by a ALOA from JSA.
