The Detroit Tigers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in 7 games to capture the 1968 World Series. Dick McAuliffe wore this jersey when celebrating their championship. Inside the rear collar of this grey flannel jersey is the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with size “40”. On the left front tail is a wash instructions label with an attached “SET 1 1968” flag tag. Across the front is “DETROIT”. The player number “3” appears on the back and the right sleeve. All numbering and lettering is done in navy blue tackle twill. McAuliffe signed the front of the jersey below the Rawlings tag in blue marker and in our opinion rates a 9. The jersey was subsequently worn in 1969 as the MLB 100th anniversary patch which was added to the sleeve for the 1969 season has been removed.
