As the 1940’s began in Boston, Herb Cain claimed the now-historic number "4" which would become the number to watch decades later. Cain and his teammates would emerge triumphant as the 1940-41 Stanley Cup Champions wearing uniforms quite similar to this one. This style, with gold numbers and letters, was first used in 1939-40. The Bruins would change the look of the uniform after 1945 and Cain wore the number for the entire period of this particular jersey style. Inside the rear tail is the Horace Partridge manufacturer’s tag. The immortal number "4" is featured on the front and back with a "B" on each sleeve in gold on black tackle twill. There are more than 25 team repairs, vintage stick marks, board paint and outstanding overall wear inside and out. Minor staining is present but only adds to the overall beauty of the sweater. This sweater is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use.
