Hall of Famer Johnny Bucyk joined the Boston Bruins when he was traded for legendary goalie Terry Sawchuk and spent the next 21 seasons with the team. Bucyk retired following the 1977-78 season as the 4th leading scorer in NHL history. In 1540 games played, he scored 556 goals and added 813 assists for 1369 points. His career best season came in 1970-71, as he netted 51 goals and 65 assists for 116 points. Bucyk earned his first of two Lady Byng Memorial Trophies as well as a 1st Team NHL All-Star selection. Bucyk hoisted the Stanley Cup in 1970 and won another Stanley Cup just two seasons later. Bucyk is the franchise’s all-time goal scoring leader and he ranks 2nd to only Ray Bourque in assists and points. The Bruins retired Bucyk’s #9 following his retirement in 1978 and he was inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1981. Inside beneath the collar of this tie-down jersey is the Wilson manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Across the chest is the Bruins team “B” logo crest. On the upper left chest is the alternate captain’s “A” logo. The player number “9” appears on both sleeves and on the back in black on gold tackle twill. The pre-fight strap era jersey features smaller sleeve number configurations and a smaller crest. There are numerous repairs throughout the rear body and both sleeves as well as board burns, stains, general wear and overall presents in impeccable condition. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. Accompanied by a Photo-Match.com LOA, a MeiGray LOA and a Selby Colson LOA.
