This solid 14k gold pocket watch measures 1-3/4” x 2-1/2”, weighs 72 grams and was presented to long-distance swimmer, Walter Pomeroy. The crystal has been restored, there is minimal scratching for a 100-year-old timepiece. The face of the watch has the manufacturer’s name, “SHREVE & CO.” along with “SWISS” watch features Longines movement. The back of the watch features a red enameled “O” with gold wings, the logo of The Olympic Club in San Francisco. The outer rear panel is engraved “SHREVE & CO. - 14K - 186177”. Engraved in the inner rear panel of the watch is “Presented to Walter M. Pomroy by The Olympic Club - Swimming the Golden Gate Strait - July 23, 1911 - Record time 24 minutes, 56 seconds”.
