The first medal is made of 10k gold, measures 2” x 1-1/4” and weighs 9 grams. The top portion of the medal features a banner with “OAKLAND COLUMBUS DAY” hand-engraved in the center. The reverse side houses the pin used to wear the medal. The lower portion features casted decorative leaves and an engraving of a swimmer diving into the water. The medal is in NRMT condition and displays beautifully. The second medal is made of 14k gold, measures 1-1/4” x 1-7/16”, weighs 11 grams and was presented to long distance swimmer Walter Pomeroy. The front of the medal features a red enameled “O” with wings, the logo of The Olympic Club in San Francisco. The perimeter of the medal is decorated with a casted image of decorative leaves. The reverse side is stamped “MASON 14K” and it has been hand-engraved “Presented by the Olympic Club - Golden Gate Swim - Aug. 1912 - W. Pomroy - 47 min.” The medal is in NRMT condition and displays beautifully.
