From 1984 to 1993 the NBA held the All-Star Legends game every year at the All-Star weekend. This format of bringing in retired players back to the court had been tried twice prior in both the 1950s and the 1960s. The Legends Classic consisted of two teams, East and West and featured recently retired players as well as those who had not played for many seasons. The 1993 All-Star Legends Classic would be the last “Old-Timers” game as each year multiple players suffered significant injuries. Hall of Famer Artis Gilmore played in the All-Star Legends Classic from 1991 to 1993. This size 9.5 (17g / 0.6oz) All-Star Legends Classic ring was presented to Artis Gilmore in 1993. The face of the ring features a synthetic sapphire with “NBA All-Star” around the center of the face. The left side reads “1993” above the Utah All-Star Weekend logo. The right side reads “Gilmore” above the NBA logo. The inner section of the ring has the manufacturer's mark of “Balfour Celestrium”. This ring is in very good condition with only slight wear to some of the lettering on the right and left sides of the ring. This item comes directly from Artis Gilmore and is accompanied by his LOA.
