A two-time MVP and perhaps the best catcher in major league history, HOFer Johnny Bench led the league in HRs twice and RBIs three times. In 1976, the Big Red Machine swept the Yankees and Bench was awarded WS MVP. Inside the front left tail of this grey knit, is the Wilson size 44 label. Arched across the chest is "CINCINNATI", across the back "BENCH’ and player number (5) on the front and back - all done in red tackle twill. The Centennial patch has been removed from the right sleeve, with outlines still visible. The name and numbers may have been done locally by Koch Sporting Goods who was the team's distributor at the time. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear.
