Hoyt Wilhelm was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985. The knuckleballer won 124 games in relief, which still is the current record for relief pitchers. He is recognized as the first pitcher to have saved 200 games in his career and the first pitcher to appear in 1,000 games. The eight-time All-Star won a World Series Championship in 1954. Wilhelm played until just shy of his 50th birthday. On the front left tail of this white pinstriped flannel, is the Wilson size 42 label. Inside the rear collar is a strip tag with “Wilhelm 1970 - set 2” embroidered on it in black chain stitching. Team name (Braves) across the chest and player number (39) on the back - both done in navy blue tackle twill. On the left sleeve is a Braves Chief Noc-A-Homa patch. Wilhelm has signed and personalized the right abdomen in blue marker, in our opinion rating a 6. JSA Iinconclusive. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear. Accompanied by a 1970 Braves Scorebook & I WAS THERE card (1,000 Major League Games).
