In 1963, Aaron nearly won the triple crown. He led the league with 44 home runs / 130 RBI and finished third in batting average (.319). In this season, Aaron became the third player to hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in a single season, and the first player to record 40 home runs and 30 steals in a season. Hank Aaron was a first-ballot Hall of Famer inducted in 1982. The 25-time All-Star won a World Series Championship in 1957 and was the NL MVP in the same year. He led the NL in home runs four times, and was named to the MLB All-Century Team. In 1974, Aaron hit home run No. 715 to break Babe Ruth’s career record. First time publicly offered, an incredibly rare 1963 road Milwaukee Braves flannel of Hank Aaron. The shirt was originally gifted by then Braves Equipment MGR, to the original owner who had it since 1964. As was the team practice of this time, after the 1963 season, the names were removed for use during spring training of 1964. It was at this time period in 1964, that the original owner acquired this jersey. The jersey features the original and unaltered MacGregor size 42 tag in the collar, along with the: Set 1 1963 tag. Also below the set tag, in the neck, there is the felt strip tag with chain stitched: H. Aaron, done in red. The Braves lettering along with the front/back numerals, are all original. The NOB “H. Aaron”, was professionally restored with period tackle twill and also period thread, to match the numerals. The original outline of the NOB, was clearly visible to match exactly the size and font of the name. The shirt has had custom tailoring on both sides from the underarm gussets all the way down each side, which is a trait we have seen in vintage photography of Aaron during this period, as well as on a photo-matched home jersey from this same season. On the lower front inside the flap, there is also a MacGregor Set 1 1963 tag. The Braves logo patch on the left sleeve is all original. The Braves used this style for the years 1963/64 only. There are only a handful of Hank Aaron Milwaukee Braves jerseys that exist, making this style with the NOB extremely rare. Overall condition is excellent. Only missing one button, which has broken off and is included in the lot. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent season long wear. Accompanied by a letter from Sports Investors Authentication, confirming the match. Accompanied by a letter from PM&G with a detailed workup, grading the jersey a 9. Accompanied by an additional letter from RGU.
