In his 1961 campaign, Rocky received All-Star recognition and ranked 8th in MVP voting. Colavito was one of the most popular power hitters and outfielders of his time with one of the best throwing arms in baseball. The consistent slugger was a nine-time All-Star and led the AL in home runs in 1959 and RBI in 1965. He became the fifth player in AL history to hit 20 home runs in 11 consecutive seasons. Along with the AL RBI title in 1965, Colavito played in every game and became the first outfielder in AL history to finish with a 1.000 fielding percentage. On the front left tail of this cream flannel, is the Wilson size 42 label. Above this is a strip tag with: 61 - set 1 stitched in. Detroit’s ‘D’ logo on the left breast and player number (7) on the back - both done in navy felt. There appears to be a period team instituted number change. There was a handwritten name in the neck, which has faded over time. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent wear, with minor staining on the back.
