“Hammerin’ Hank” was the first player to break Babe Ruth’s home run record. Aaron’s legendary 23 season career in the MLB was mostly spent with the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves. At the time of his retirement he held most of the power hitting records in the MLB. Hank Aaron alongside Alex Rodriguez are the only two players in the history of the sport to hit 30+ home runs in 15 seasons. After his retirement he was inducted into the hall of fame and had his number retired by the Braves in 1977. This size 7 1/8 helmet has Aaron’s number and name written on the inside for player attribution. The front brim of the helmet has been signed by Aaron in black ink and in our opinion the autograph rates a 9. The helmet originates from Leland’s Grand Slam November 19-20, 1994 auction which featured the Dennis Goldstein Collection. Goldstein’s collection is well documented and was used extensively in the Ken Burns “Baseball” documentary film released in 1994. The helmet has been presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA and photocopies of the Leland’s Grand Slam catalog.
