In 1982 Topps had ended their deal with the NBA and the Star Company was the only card manufacturer with an NBA license. The Star Company produced their cards from 1983 until Fleer signed with the NBA for the 1986-87 season. The Star Company was plagued with printing issues including miscutting and poor ink saturation. These issues led to production runs of less than 5,000 units. Additionally there were spotty distribution methods with only a handful of retailers selling these cards and most cards being sold by mail. Quality examples of any Star card are a rare find. This 1984 Star Michael Jordan #101 card is considered to be the most desirable of the Jordan star cards. It has been graded and encapsulated by PSA with a grade of VG-EX 4.
