June 13th, 1998 was one of the most important days in basketball history. It was game six of the NBA finals, with the Chicago Bulls vs. the Utah Jazz facing off at Delta Stadium. The game would be Michael Jordan’s last appearance as a member of the Chicago Bulls, the team he had helped bring out of a period of back to back losses. The broadcast garnered the most views in NBA history. The Bulls, led by Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Toni Kukoc once again faced Karl Malone and John Stockton of the Utah Jazz. The series 3-2 before the start of the game and the Bulls were predicted to underperform due to Pippen’s back injury. Pippen almost immediately aggravated his injury by dunking the opening basket. Pippen’s injury forced Jordan to pick up the slack which led him to scoring 23 points in the first half. With 41.9 seconds left on the clock, Stockton made a 3-pointer putting the Jazz in the lead 86-85 which created chaos in the stadium. In what is regarded as one of Jordan’s greatest moments he did a crossover on Bryron Russell and then sank a 2 point jump shot with 5.2 seconds left putting the bulls head at 87-86. Stockton tried to follow up with a 3 point attempt but missed leading Michael Jordan to win his 6th championship and 2nd 3-peat. This full ticket from the game is the only known graded example and has been graded and encapsulated by PSA with a grade of EX 5.
