Monte Pearson was the first Yankee to achieve a No Hitter at Yankee Stadium on August 27, 1938. During the 2nd game of a double header and the 10th game in 5 days, Pearson led the exhausted team to a victory against the Cleveland Indians with his astounding pitching. At the top of the 9th inning the Indians still had still not had a single base hit. Indians star Bruce Campbell stepped up to the plate with 2 outs and hit a left line drive which was immediately caught by George Selkirk meaning Pearson had just pitched a no hitter. The crowd stormed the field in celebration with one fan grabbing Pearson’s hat. Pearson went on to help the Yankees win a string of World Series Championships before a career ending shoulder injury in 1940. This ticket stub has been graded and encapsulated by PSA with a grade of 3.
