HOFer Robert ‘Hoot’ Gibson was one of those generational talents that they had to alter the entire league’s rules for. Sometimes known as the ‘Gibson Rules’, MLB lowered the pitcher’s mound in 1969, from 15” to 10”. His accolades include: 9x MLB All-Star, 2x WS Champ, 1968 NL MVP, 9x Gold Glover and his No. 45 retired by the Cardinals. In his 1972 campaign, he went 19-11, 2.46 ERA and 208 K’s. This jersey has been matched to 7/17/1972. Gibson recorded a 3-2 win over Houston and recorded 12 K’s - he also hit a double! Inside the back left tail of this grey knit, is the Rawlings manufacturer label with size (44) and a flag tag attached ‘SET 1 #8P 1972’. The Cardinals ‘bird on bat’ logo across the front. Player number (45) below that and on the back, done in red on navy tackle twill. Player name (GIBSON) is done across the back in a restored period-correct red and navy tackle twill. Gibson has signed in blue marker, inside the back of the neck, in our opinion rating a 6-7. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding wear. Accompanied by a letter from Sports Investors Authentication, confirming the match. Also accompanied by a BECKETT LOA for the signature.
