HOFer Bobby Doerr was a 14 year life long Red Sock, dubbed ‘the silent captain’ by Ted Williams. He was a 9x All-Star and batted over .300 three times, drove in over 100 runs six times and set Red Sox team records in several categories despite missing a season to serve in WWII. He was inducted into Cooperstown in 1986 and his No. 1 is retired by the Red Sox. Inside the front left tail of this cream flannel, is the ‘48’ year tag. Inside the back of the neck, is the McAULIFFE distributor label, with a Wilson manufacturer label below. Attached to the Wilson label is a size (44) tag. Below them both, is a strip tag with player name (Doerr) stitched in black. Team name (RED SOX) across the chest and player number (1) across the back - both done in red felt with black trim and the player number on back has been restored which indicates extended organizational use. Adjacent to the number restoration on the inside are two patches which look to be repairing tears. There was a patch on the left sleeve which has been removed. Doerr has signed the right tail in blue marker, in our opinion rating a 6. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent wear. Accompanied by an additional LOA.
