As a new franchise, the Vikings selected HOFer QB Fran Tarkenton in the third round of the 1961 NFL draft. In their first game, the rookie from Georgia came off the bench to fire four TD passes and run for another in a big upset against the Bears. For the next 18 seasons, the 6’0’’, 190lbs field leader never let up in his relentless quest of yardage and touchdowns. At the time of his retirement, Fran owned every significant passing record - 3,686 completions, 47,003 passing yards and 342 TD’s. In his second stint with the Vikings, he led them to six NFC Central Division titles and three Super Bowl appearances. On the front left tail of this purple cold weather heavyweight knit, are two Sand-Knit labels. ONe is the ‘EXCLUSIVE’ tag and the other is with size (44). Player number (10) is painted in white on the front/back and both sleeves. Player name (TARKENTON) is done in white tackle twill across a purple nameplate on the back.
