The 1998 Chicago Bulls marked the end of one of basketball's most legendary dynasties The 1998 finals were the Bull’s 6th NBA Championship from 1991-1998 and was the last team to be led by Hall of Famers Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen alongside coach Phil Jackson. The Bulls entered the finals as two time defending champions and faced a rematch against the Utah Jazz led by Karl Malone and John Stockton. While the Bulls dominated the initial games, they fell behind with three consecutive losses. The start of game 6 didn’t look great for the team but turned out to be one of the most exciting basketball games of the 20th century. Scottie Pippen had his back give out when scoring the opening dunk and was so badly injured that he only put up 8 points the entire game. Jordan had to take the lead scoring 45 points alone. With 49 seconds left on the clock Stockton scored a 3 pointer putting the Jazz in the lead at 86-83. Given Pippen’s injury and the team's level of exhaustion Jordan knew that overtime or the possibility of game 7 was not going to work out well. Down by three with under a minute remaining, Jordan flew down the court and scored a quick layup getting the team closer to Utah's lead. The ball went back into the Jazz’s possession but that quickly changed when Jordan stole Stockon’s pass to Malone and took full advantage of the opportunity as he maneuvered with a cross-over, and sunk a 20-ft. jump shot, getting the Bulls to an 87–86 lead with 5.2 seconds remaining. Michael Jordan ended that game with 6 NBA Finals, 6 championships, and 6 NBA Finals MVP trophies. The 1998 NBA finals served as the main focus of the 2020 ESPN documentary series “The Last Dance” where exclusive footage from a film crew with unrestricted access to the Bulls is used. The championship ring available here mirrors the design of the player rings given to the Bulls team including Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, and Phil Jackson. It is made of 14k gold, its centerpiece is an 18K gold top featuring a diamond-studded Larry O'Brien Trophy. Engravings on the left side commemorate the 1998 World Championship and "Repeat Three Peat," appears alongside the Logoman. On the right side, the name "Keigher" , is engraved followed by the title "MKTG," along with the Bulls logo. The Jostens stamp can be found on the inside of the ring. The ring is in excellent condition throughout and shows the proper manufacturer markings.
