The greatest NHL player of all-time Wayne Gretzky played his final game as an Edmonton Oiler in 1988 while hoisting the Stanley Cup for the fourth time in five seasons. Presented here is Gretzky’s undershirt from the game, laundry bag, celebration cap, socks and shorts which he wore in the locker room following the sweep of the Boston Bruins. The size “L” undershirt shows staining and pilling throughout. The cap reads “EDMONTON OILERS CHAMPIONS 1988” with heavy staining, likely from champagne and expected aging. The cap and laundry bag have the player number “99” handwritten on in faded black marker. Also included are a pair of his shorts and socks. Shortly after the celebration Gretzky would be traded to the Los Angeles Kings and would shock the hockey world.
