The Edmonton Oilers selected Coffey with the 6th pick in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. He broke camp with the club in 1980 and never looked back, eventually becoming the 2nd highest scoring defenseman in NHL league history. Coffey spent his formative years, 7 seasons in all, with the Oilers as this group of talented youngsters turned into a dynasty. During his time in Edmonton, Coffey celebrated the franchise’s first 3 Stanley Cups in 84, 85 and 87. Coffey was voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004, his first year of eligibility, and the Edmonton Oilers retired his uniform number 7 in 2005. Attached to the inside collar of this Rookie durene jersey is a faded Sandow Sporting Knit manufacturer’s tag size “EXTRA-LARGE” and an additional faded tag with washing instructions. Across the chest is the “OILERS” team logo crest. The player number “7” appears on both sleeves as well as the back and across the back is the player name “COFFEY” which all are done in orange on white tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the “Alberta 75” anniversary patch. The jersey shows tremendous wear with stick marks and board burns on the sleeves, front and back. An unrepaired hole is on the left elbow pad. The original nameplate has been reattached. The jersey has been photo-matched to multiple images including Coffey’s 1981 O-Pee-Chee card. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a MeiGray LOA, Oilers LOA and Photo-Match.com LOA.
