Lot Description  

This First Issue of Sports Illustrated is dated August 16, 1954. The cover famously depicts Milwaukee Braves Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews at bat and New York Giants catcher Wes Westrum in Milwaukee County Stadium. The price was 25 cents, not bad for a pre-swimsuit issue. The magazine shows light wear and appears to be in EX+ overall condition, baseball cards included.
