Hall of Famer Andy Bathgate was named as one of The Hockey News' 100 Greatest Hockey Players and was one of hockey's top right wingers of his era. Andy Bathgate was a popular star for the New York Rangers and also held the honour of being declared the Most Valuable Player of both the NHL and Western Hockey League (WHL). The accompanying Shelby Colson letter states in part: “Nice overall wear consisting of (1) team repair, puck/stick marks, board burns, pilling, and a large grouping of loose threads/stitching on the upper left chest area, which appears to be from a removed “C”.” Inside the rear tail is the Gerry Cosby manufacturer’s tag with an adjacent tag reading the size “48”. Diagonally down the chest of this tie down style jersey reads “RANGERS”. The player number “9” appears on both sleeves and on the back. All numbering and lettering is done in red on white tackle twill. The Captain’s “C” patch has been removed from the upper left chest with an outline remaining. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding wear. Accompanied by a detailed Selby Colson LOA.
