Before he was “The Great One” Hockey Hall of Fame Centre Wayne Gretzky played for the Team Canada Junior Hockey Team during the 1977-78 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship. Gretzky was a part of the junior team that played internationally, with all the players being under the age of 20. The tournament was played in Canada, with Montreal and Quebec hosting most of the games. The Canadian Junior team is the most successful in the world, medaling in 33 of 45 events held since 1977. Team Canada earned a bronze medal during the 1977-78 Tournament held from December 22nd, 1977 to January 3rd, 1978. CCM TEAM CANADA '77 lefty stick with number 6 or upside down 9 (possibly Gretzky who was 9) stamped atop the shaft and '7 DEC' stamped towards the bottom of the shaft. Team signed (approximately 23) including a faint Gretzky on the handle. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA.
