Phil Ford was an outstanding college player at UNC, winning the 1978 ACC Player of the Year / John Wooden Award and his No. 12 retired by the Tar Heels. Ford was the starting Point Guard under Coach Dean Smith in the 76 Olympics, averaging 9 assists per game and helped them bring home Olympic Gold.
