After hitting his 500th career home run against Baltimore Orioles hurler Stu Miller on Mother’s Day, May 14, 1967, Mickey Mantle was besieged by well wishers in the immediate days afterwards. This 5.5 x 8.5 inch Western Union telegram, also dated May 14th, is from former teammate Yogi Berra, who was in St. Louis as a coach of the New York Mets, telling Mickey “CONGRATULATIONS ON 500. COULDN’T HAPPEN TO A NICER GUY. HOPE YOU HIT 500 MORE. YOGI BERRA.” Excellent condition with usual folds and small edge chip. Very rare and one of a kind item.
