“Campy" won three Championships with the A’s. He holds the A's franchise records for career games played (1,795), hits (1,882) and at bats (7,180). Team owner Charlie Finley continued his assault upon the standard mores of Major League Baseball fashion this season, as he allowed pitcher Jim Grant to stitch his nickname "Mudcat" onto his jersey instead of the tradition surname. A few teammates quickly followed suit, with Vida Blue choosing to sport his first name, and Jim Hunter emblazoning his jersey verso with "Catfish." A simple restoration job will return this home yellow vest to its original iconoclastic brilliance, as the shirt was unfortunately stripped of its aquatic moniker for secondary minor league usage. On the left front tail is the “McAuliffe” manufacturer’s tag. Below are the size “40” and year “70” labels. On the left chest is the team “A’s” logo. Player number “19” appears on both the front and back. All these numbers and letters are done in green on white tackle twill. Outlines of the nickname “CAMPY” are visible across the back. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent wear.
