In his first two full seasons, Clemens became only the fourth pitcher ever to win back-to-back Cy Young awards, pitching 18 shutouts in his first 139 starts. He also established a major league record with 20 strikeouts in a nine inning game, a feat he repeated a decade later. Clemens went on to win an additional three Cy Young awards, bringing his total to an unprecedented five and counting. In the neck of the jersey is the "Wilson" label and size "50." Below this is a white patch reading "21 97 1" in blue Swiss embroidered stitch. The numbers denote the player number, year and set number, respectively. Across the front of the shirt is the name "Blue Jays" and on the back is the name "Clemens." The player number "21" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the jersey. The letters and numbers are made of navy on light blue tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the Jackie Robinson 50th anniversary patch. There is an autograph on both the right front and on the back of the shirt. The autograph rates between 8-9. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
