The February 8, 1983 NHL All-Star Game was held at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. Wayne Gretzky would set an All-Star Game record by scoring 4 goals in the 3rd period. The Campbell Conference would go on to win the game 9-3 and Gretzky was named the All-Star Game MVP. Gretzky is considered to be the greatest hockey player in history. He is the leading-point-scorer in the NHL and has more assists than any other player has points. He is also the only player to total over 200 points in one season, a feat he accomplished 4 times. Due to the limited availability in period imagery, Casey Samuelson was unable to pull a photomatch/videomatch confirming placement. This shirt is being offered as a game jersey only, the capacity in which period it was worn or if it was ever worn, is not being opined upon. Just below the inner rear collar is the “Maska” manufacturer’s tag. Adjacent to the left is the “GERRY cosby” distributor’s tag with size “XL” and wash instructions. Adjacent below is a “100% POLYESTER” tag. Diagonally across the front reads “CAMPBELL”. Across the back is the player name “GRETZKY”. Adjacent below is the player number “99”. All are done in white on black tackle twill. On the left shoulder is the Campbell Conference logo embroidered in orange, black and white. On the right shoulder is the official “NHL” patch also embroidered in orange, black and white. Adjacent below each is the player number “99” in orange on white tackle twill. Six white stars appear on the front and back tail and three stars on each sleeve all in white tackle twill. A fight strap is present. The initials of the Hall of Fame curator are handwritten on the inner elbow pad and referenced in the accompanied copy of a LOA from the Hockey Hall of Fame which states that "Wayne Gretzky's 1983 game worn All Star jersey... bears my initials PJE inside the left arm in the elbow area." and is signed by Peter Eriksson.
