Carl Yastrzemski is an 18-time All-Star, the possessor of seven Gold Gloves and a member of the 3000 hit club. He is the Red Sox' all-time leader in career RBIs, runs, hits, singles, doubles, total bases and games played. In 1967, Yastrzemski achieved a peak in his career, leading the Red Sox to the AL pennant for the first time in over two decades. On the front left tail is the McAuliffe manufacturer’s tag with a “1972” tag above and a size “42” tag below. Across the front reads “RED SOX” and on the back is the player number “8” both in red on navy felt. The underarms are tinged pink from the undershirt. The jersey is accompanied by an additional LOA incorrectly stating its originality. We have compared and analyzed this jersey against an on hand exemplar of a 1972 Bill "Space Man" Lee Boston Red Sox game-used home flannel jersey. We have also seen other exemplars like this on Red Sox home jerseys from 1970-72. McAuliffe used a very heavy gauge felt during that era for the Red Sox team name and numbers on the back which had a tendency to shrink from repeated cleanings. The stitching, felt, thread and the fading are a perfect match. This all-original Yaz is a tremendous example with great wear from the Hall of Famer and is a true gem. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use. Accompanied by a Photo-Match.com LOA grading the jersey a perfect 10.
