Jean Claude Lefebvre, a 7’3” 280-pounder from France, started playing for the Zags in the fall of 1957. He was the tallest college basketball player in the United States at the time. Nicknamed the “Eiffel Rifle”, the 20-year-old Lefebvre scored 50 points on 20 field goals against Whitworth, and averaged 14.5 points per game as a freshman. Presented is a beautiful durene jersey worn by him during his time at Gonzaga. On the front left tail is the MacGregor manufacturer’s tag size “46”. Adjacent is the “C&S Sports Equipment” distributor’s tag and a tag with washing instructions. Across the front reads “GONZAGA”. The player number “55” appears below and on the back. All numbering and lettering is done in red on white tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use.
