"The Manassa Mauler" ruled the ring as heavyweight champ from 1919 to 1926, and was by his own reckoning a "saloon-keeper" (actually he was the owner of Dempsey's Restaurant on Broadway) when he presented this handsome trophy to VP Hubert H. Humphrey in 1968. It features a gold statuette of the old champ atop a loving cup mounted to a wooden base with two eagles and a plaque reading, "Presented to the most honorable Vice President of the United States... From your pal Jack Dempsey." The trophy is 17" high and is in excellent condition with just a few minor scratches.
