Peerless Sugar Ray Robinson was the standard of boxing perfection throughout the 1940s and 1950s. This 8" x 10" shot of Sugar Ray in a classic boxing pose was signed by the man that many call the greatest pound-for-pound fighter in history, "Best Wishes, Sugar Ray Robinson," in black pen, with the signature rating a near 10. It comes with a working press ticket stub dated September 23, 1957 when he lost the middleweight title to Carmen Basilio in a 15-round decision at Yankee Stadium, a defeat he avenged when he beat Basilio 6 months later to regain the crown for a record 5th time. The photo is in excellent condition. The stub has minor creases at the lower and upper left corners.
