The 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates were a team for the ages. Led by shortstop Honus Wagner they scored the most runs in the Majors and went on to defeat Ty Cobb's mighty Tigers in the World Series. Forbes field was a historic stadium, which stood from 1909-1971. It served as the third home to the Pirates, the first home to the Steelers, and home field to the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. This exceedingly rare copper pin was given out opening day to Pirates Players' and Dignitaries'. The catchers-mitt shaped pin with ball in center reads "JUNE 30, 1909 PITTSBURGH". It measures 2.5". The pin is in EX condition overall.
