The first medal measures 1-9/16” x 1-1/4” and weighs 15 grams. The front of the medal features a red enameled “O” with wings, the logo of The Olympic Club in San Francisco. There is a casted image of two men along with decorative leaves and a hand-engraved banner that reads “1914”. The reverse side is engraved “Swimming - 66yards (Side Stroke) Won By W.M. Pomeroy, O.C.” and stamped “SHREWE & CO.” The second medal measures 1-1/2” x 1-5/16” and weighs 15 grams. The front of the medal features the red enameled “O” with wings and a single swimmer as well as decorative leaves along the sides. The reverse side is hand-engraved SWIMMING 66 ? YDS SIDE STROKE - WALTER POMEROY - MARCH 6 ‘14” and stamped “STERLING” along with an “N” inside a small shield. The third medal measures 1-7/8” x 1-3/8” and weighs 13 grams. The top portion of the medal features a banner hand-engraved “SWIMNMING”. The reverse side is stamped “STERLING” and houses the pin used to wear the medal. The lower portion features a casted image of a diver with decorative leaves around the perimeter along with the red enameled “O” with wings. The reverse side is hand-engraved “WON BY W. POMEROY 11-6-13”. The fourth medal measures 1-9/16” x 1-1/4” and weighs 14 grams. The front of the medal features the red enameled “O” with wings. There is a casted image of two men along with decorative leaves along the sides. The reverse side is engraved “P.A. Championship Swimming Meet - 880yards Open - W. Pomeroy - October 16-1914” and stamped “SHREWE & CO. SAN FRANCISCO”. The four medals are in NRMT condition and display beautifully.
