In the 1992-93 NHL season, The Great One—Wayne Gretzky—led the Los Angeles Kings to their first-ever Stanley Cup Final appearance. These gloves have been matched to a game on January 6, 1993, in which Gretzky played in the 1,000th game of his storied NHL career in a matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Just two days later, on January 8, 1993, Gretzky scored his first two goals of the season after missing the first 39 games due to injury. With those goals, he became only the second player in NHL history to reach the 750-goal milestone—doing so faster than anyone before him, in just his 1,001st game. Additional matches have been confirmed to: Jan 13th 1993 vs. The Devils, and an undated image used on his 93-94 Upper Deck Card. These are black white and grey EASTON GX9500 FLEX GRIP gloves. Player number (99) and: AIR emblazoned on in white. Gretzky has signed each glove “Wayne Gretzky 99”, in silver marker, in our opinion rating 8-9. The gloves show nice wear in the palms from handling the stick, and additional wear throughout. Gloves are sans laces. These gloves are properly marked, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion show excellent wear. Accompanied by a letter from Photo-Match.com, confirming the matches, as well as its original listing which references it being part of the Sheffler collection. Accompanied by a JSA ALOA.
