Torres trained with the legendary boxing trainer Cus D'Amato. In 1997, he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.The accompanying JO Sports letter states in part:  ITEM: Jose Torred Golden Gloves Robe. This is the boxing robe worn by Jose Torres during his Golden Gloves career and also worn during his early professional career. LOA from Jose Torres which indicates this was worn as a professional, however, Torres was incorrect saying he wore the robe in his fight with Willie Pastrano. This robe is blue satin with orange trim. No hood. On the back in orange block lettering are the words, “JOSE TORRES.” On the front left breast pocket is the NY logo in orange lettering. Manufacturing label for DAVEGA GOLDEN GLOVES in the collar. Includes original satin sash. No moth holes are evident. Overall excellent condition. Beautiful in every way. Accompanied by the aforementioned JO Sports and Torres LOA’s.
