The Great One, HOFer Wayne Gretzky was supposed to sign with the Canucks going into 96-97 but the deal was called off due to Gretzky not liking the Canucks' pushiness. He ended his professional playing career by signing with the New York Rangers, where he played his final three seasons and helped the team reach the Eastern Conference Finals in 1997. These are black and white Tacks CCM skates with player number (99) emblazoned in white on the sides and SLM stickers on the base of the blades. Stamped in the heel of the right skate is: 6 ¼ N and in the left is: 5 ¾ (unclear). Originally acquired from the collection of former Rangers equipment manager Mike Folga. The skates show nice wear with black marks and scuffs throughout. These skates are properly marked, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion show appropriate wear. Accompanied by a copy of a Mike Folga LOA who was the Rangers Equipment MGR at the time. It also states in part: The skates are mismatched in size with one being size 5 ¾ and the other being a 6 ¼. These CCM’s fit smaller bar are identical in size to Wayne’s Nike which are sized at 6 ¾ and 7 ¼. Also accompanied by a Heritage COA, as well as a photo of Gretzky wearing this style in the Canada Cup.
