After 2 years in the NCJAA with Gardner–Webb Junior College, Artis Gilmore transferred to Jacksonville University where he would help lead the team to the 1970 NCAA Division I championship. The team suffered a loss to UCLA Bruins in the final game. During his two years at Jacksonville, Gilmore became one of five college basketball players ever to average at least 20 points and 20 rebounds over his career at 24.3 and 22.7. His career average of 22.7 rebounds per game has remained the highest record in NCAA Division I history over the last 54 years. This NCAA Basketball Finalist watch was presented to Artis Gilmore in 1970. It was manufactured by Bulova with the face of the watch reading “NCAA Basketball Finalist 1970”. On the rear side of the watch case reads “10KT. Gold Bezel Ring” and “Stainless Steel Case” with the serial number and Bulova logo in adjacent spaces. At some point in time the watch band was replaced with a similar color band from Seiko. The watch shows signs of wear but is in very good condition overall. This item comes directly from Artis Gilmore and is accompanied by his LOA.
