To this day, Murderers Row is one of the most revered lineups in sports history. The Yankees’ 110 victories broke the previous AL mark of 105, which was set by the 1912 Red Sox and would stand until 1954. Including sweeping the Pirates in the World Series, their total record of 114-44 gave them a winning percentage of .721. The nation's attention turned to Babe Ruth's pursuit of his own home run mark of 59, set in 1921. Early in the season, Ruth expressed doubts about his chances: "I don't suppose I'll ever break that 1921 record. To do that, you've got to start early, and the pitchers have got to pitch to you. Ruth proved himself wrong with a remarkable last leg of the season, hitting 17 homers in September, ultimately finishing the season with 60. Ruth was exultant, shouting after the game, "Sixty, count 'em, sixty! Let's see some other son of a bitch match that!" In addition to his career-high 60 home runs, Ruth batted .356, drove in 165 runs and slugged .772. Oh and there was still Gehrig, who put up: .373 BA, 173 RBI and 47 HR. This is a lightly shellacked Reach DC/SS/TM USA baseball signed in black steel-tip fountain pen. HOFs: B. Ruth, L. Gehrig, T. Speaker, G. Goslin, B. Harris, and M. Huggins. Accompanied by a full JSA LOA, which states “All of the signatures are fully enhanced in an unknown hand.”
