First ballot HoFer, Rickey Henderson is widely regarded as the sport's greatest leadoff hitter and base runner. He holds the major league records for career stolen bases, runs scored, unintentional walks and leadoff home runs. The Athletics' 1990 campaign ranks among the organization's finest. Oakland, by winning 103 games, led the league outright in wins for a third consecutive season. Henderson was awarded the 1990 AL MVP by hitting .325, .439 OBP, 9.9 WAR, 119 runs, 28 HR, and 65 SB. These are white and green low-top Mizuno Runbird cleats, with Mizuno emblazoned in green on the tong and heels. Henderson has signed the right shoe’s heel, in green pen, in our opinion rating an 7-8. The accompanying LOA states in part that 1. These cleats came from Rickey’s agent for Memorabilia Shows, who obtained them directly from Rickey. 2. It is my understanding that these cleats were used during the 1990 Oakland A’s season – the year that Rickey broke Ty Cobb’s A.L. Stolen Base Record. Even if for some reason the cleats would not be from 1990, they then could only be from the last half of 1989. These cleats are properly marked, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion show excellent wear. Accompanied by a Wolfers LOA signed by Michael Montbriant. Also accompanied by a JSA ALOA.
