Derrel McKinley "Bud" Harrelson anchored the Mets' infield for thirteen seasons. 1971 was a huge season for Bud individually. He won a Gold Glove, and started at short for the NL in the All-Star Game. Harrelson was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame in 1986. He was the only person to take part in both of the Mets' World Series championships and appear in the first three World Series for the team; he won in 1969 and appeared in the 1973 World Series as a player and in 1986 as a coach. Harrelson is also the only person in Mets history to have appeared in four playoff seasons: as a player in 1969 and 1973 and as a coach in 1986 and 1988. Inside the neck of this beautiful blue splashed grey flannel, is a grey strip tag with: 3 - 36 - 1971 chain stitched in blue. Wilson size 36 label on the front left tail. Blue on orange tackle twill identifiers - “NEW YORK” arched across the chest and player number (3) below that and on the back. Mets disc patch on the left sleeve. Harrelson has signed and inscribed the left abdomen “Bud Harrelson 3 1971 METS”, in blue marker, in our opinion rating a 9. This jersey was recently displayed at the Mets museum. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent wear with puckering to the tackle twill identifiers. Accompanied by a period Mets team letter which states in part: Please find enclosed one gray uniform shirt, number 3, which was worn by Met shortstop Bud Harrelson, one of the Met “stars”. Beckett sticker affixed inside the back of the tail: C03629. Accompanied by a full JSA LOA.
