Roger Maris earned back to back AL MVP’s in this season, and 1961. On January 23, 1961, an Associated Press reporter asked Maris whether the schedule changes might threaten Babe Ruth's single-season home run record; Maris replied, "Nobody will touch it ... Look up the records and you'll see that it's a rare year when anybody hits 50 homers, let alone 60." Maris was also a 7x All-Star, and 3x World Series champ. His No. 9 is retired by the NY Yankees. This is a Hillerich & Bradsby 016 Roger Maris pro model bat ash bat, measuring 35” & 32.7oz. Evidence of excellent use with a handle crack that has been professionally repaired. Several ball marks and stitch impressions visible on the right, left and back barrel. Green bat rack marks on all sides of the barrel. The model number (016) is stamped into the knob. Accompanied by a full PSA LOA, grading it GU 7.5.
