Frank Viola is a Long Island NY legend often credited with pitching one of college baseball’s greatest games, against future Mets teammate Ron Darling. St. John’s beat Darling’s Yale University one to nothing in 12 innings - they both went 11 shutout innings and Darling 11 innings without a hit. Viola’s accolades also include - 3x MLB All-Star, 1987 WS Champ, 1988 Cy Young, 1987 WS MVP and a member of the MN Twins HOF. Inside the back of the collar of this grey pinstripe knit, is the Rawlings manufacturer label with size (44) and a tag attached reading “SET 1 1988”. MINNESOTA across the front and player number (16) below that and on the back - both done in red on navy tackle twill.
