In the spring of 1965, Joe Namath was about to go to his first New York Jets training camp after signing for a then-unheard of $427,000 when an excited fan wrote to him asking for photos. A gracious Namath replied to the fan, Roy Pitts, in a one-paragraph letter dated June 14, 1965, explaining in a great understatement that "I have been very busy" and directing him to write to the "Gotham Football Club." He signed "Joe Willie Namath" at the bottom in blue pen. The large, clear signature rates an 8. The 8-1/2" x 11" letter is in excellent condition with two fold marks and comes with a postmarked envelope addressed to Pitts as well as a PSA certificate of authenticity.
