Born Marion Michael Morisson, John Wayne was one of the most beloved actors in cinematic history. "The Duke" was a great patriot, best known for his roles in westerns and wartime movies. Wayne was nominated for an Academy Award for "Sands of Iwo Jima" before finally winning an Oscar in 1970 for his role in "True Grit."
