“Catfish” Hunter was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987. At the time, a player was allowed to choose which team's cap would be memorialized on his Hall of Fame Plaque. Before and after his induction, Hunter spoke highly of his experiences with both the Athletics and Yankees and his appreciation for both team owners, Charlie Finley and George Steinbrenner. For this reason, he refused to choose a team and thus the plaque depicts him with no insignia on the cap. Hunter was a five-time World Champion, a Cy Young Award winner and threw a perfect game in 1968. On the front left tail of this yellow flannel vest, is the McAULIFFE label, with two adjoining labels below - 70 & 46, for year and size. A’s logo on the left breast, and player number (27) on right breast and on the back - all done in green on white tackle twill, with puckering. Hunter has signed above the A’s logo ‘Jim Catfish Hunter’, in black pen, in our opinion rating a 7. Name on back has been removed. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding wear. Accompanied by a JSA ALOA.
