Following high school Matsui was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the first round. He was given the uniform number 55, which was the single-season home run record held by Sadaharu Oh. During his 20-year playing career, Matsui hit 507 home runs - 332 in NPB and 175 in MLB. In 2018, Matsui was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame. Inside the back tail of this white knit, is the DESCENTE label, with PRO COLLECTION player ID (55) and year (01) tag below. Team name (GIANTS) across the chest, player number (55) below that and on the back, and player name (MATSUI) across the back - all done in black on orange tackle twill. YOMIURI on the left sleeve in black on orange tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear.
