The 1951 NY Yankees, were managed by Casey Stengel and featured a rising star rookie named Mickey Mantle. They went 98-56 in the regular season, won their 18th pennant and went on to win the World Series. The 1951 World Series matched the two-time defending champion New York Yankees against the New York Giants, who had won the National League pennant in a thrilling three-game playoff with the Brooklyn Dodgers on the legendary home run by Bobby Thomson (the Shot Heard 'Round the World). The 1951 season was a ‘changing of the guard’ for the Yankees, as it was DiMaggio’s final season and Mantle’s first. It was also noteworthy that it marked the first year of Bob Sheppard’s tenure as Yankee Stadium’s PA announcer. This is a beautiful REACH Harridge OAL baseball in NM condition. There are over 20 signatures, all done in blue pen, in our opinion rating 6-9, with a high grade bold rookie Mickey Mantle. DiMaggio has been deemed Clubhouse. Other notables include: Berra, Stengel, Reynolds, Bauer, Houk, McDougal, and Brown. The ball is inscribed with ‘1950 World Champions’ but they likely signed it in the spring of 51’. Accompanied by a JSA ALOA.
