Stewart was called up from the minors in 1942 to play in one game of the Stanley Cup Finals, where he helped the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup. The next season, Stewart won the 1942–43 Calder Memorial Trophy, beating out Maurice 'The Rocket' Richard of the Montreal Canadiens. He became the first player to win the Stanley Cup before the Calder. Stewart played for five of the NHL’s Original Six - all except the Boston Bruins. 1951 was the 5th All-Star Game and it was held at Maple Leaf Gardens. The game was a tie 2-2. Inside the tail is the MacNeice’s Kenny Grant-Johnny manufacturer’s tag. Across the front is a thickly embroidered “NHL 1951” logo crest beneath 5 blue tackle twill stars. On the back is the player number “16” in red on blue felt also beneath 5 blue tackle twill stars. This jersey is properly tagged and presented to us as game-issued. Overall excellent condition with a few small holes.
